After installing the "Responsive Testimonials Pro" package on your Joomla site, the immediate next step is to configure its settings. Begin by navigating to Components > Responsive Testimonials Pro, then click on "Testimonials". On this page, you'll notice an "Options" button located at the top right corner. Clicking this button will allow you to start configuring your extension settings. Notably, the extension now supports Invisible Google ReCaptcha V3, enhancing security against spam and bot submissions.

Setting Up Invisible Google ReCaptcha V3

To implement ReCaptcha V3 in the "Responsive Testimonials Pro" extension, follow these steps to obtain the necessary keys from Google:

  1. Visit Google's ReCaptcha Page: Access the Google ReCaptcha website.

  2. Sign In: Use your Google account to log in, or create one if needed.

  3. Register Your Site: Hit the “+” button or navigate to the “Admin Console” to register your site.

  4. Configure Your Site:

    • Label: Assign a label to your ReCaptcha (e.g., your site's name) for easy identification.
    • ReCaptcha Type: Choose "ReCaptcha v3".
    • Domains: Enter your site’s domain (like example.com), excluding http:// or https://.
    • Owners: Verify your email is listed as the owner, or specify additional owners.
  5. Accept Terms and Submit: Agree to the terms and click "Submit" to complete the setup.

  6. Obtain Keys: You’ll be directed to a page displaying your Site Key (public) and Secret Key (private).

Integrating ReCaptcha V3

With the Site Key and Secret Key in hand, integrate ReCaptcha V3 into the "Responsive Testimonials Pro" form module by entering these keys in the module's configuration settings. This step significantly boosts your site’s defense against unwanted spam submissions.

Configuring Email Notifications

  • Email Address: Specify the email address where notifications for new testimonial submissions should be sent.
  • Subject: Customize the subject line for emails related to new testimonials to make them easily recognizable.

Component Category Setup

Once you've finished configuring the options, the next crucial step involves setting up at least one category before you can begin adding testimonials. To create a category, navigate to Components > Responsive Testimonials Pro > Testimonials Category in your Joomla dashboard. On the Category page, simply enter a name for your category and you can leave the other fields empty.

Testimonial Form

There are two main ways to add testimonials: manually entering them into the backend or allowing users to submit them via a form on the frontend.

Manually Adding Testimonials

  1. To add a testimonial manually, navigate to Components > Responsive Testimonials Pro > Testimonials.
  2. Click the "New" button to open the testimonial form. Note that the name and testimonial text fields are mandatory, while other fields are optional and can be left blank if not applicable.

User Submissions via the Frontend Form

Users can submit testimonials through either a component form attached to a menu item or a module form that can be placed in any template position.

Setting Up the Component Form:

  1. Go to Menus > Your Menu and click "New".
  2. In the details tab, set the Menu Item Type to Responsive Testimonial Form > Testimonial Form.

Display Testimonials

After collecting testimonials, showcasing them on your Joomla site can significantly enhance its credibility. You can display testimonials using either the component view attached to a menu item or through a module that can be placed in various template positions. Here’s how to set up both methods for optimal display.

Using the Component View

The component view is ideal for displaying testimonials on a dedicated page with optional pagination for easy navigation.

  1. Creating a Menu Item for Testimonials:

    • Navigate to Menus > Your Menu and click "New" to create a new menu item.
    • Select Menu Item Type and choose Responsive Testimonials Pro > Testimonials
    • Configure the Menu Title and other basic settings as needed.
  2. Configuring the Testimonials Display:

    • In the menu item configuration, you'll typically find options to specify which categories of testimonials to display.
    • You can often choose the display layout  and set how many testimonials to show per page.
    • Additional settings include the ability to show or hide specific fields such as the author's name, date, ratings, etc.
  3. Applying Styling Options:

    • The component allows for styling directly within the menu item settings, such as background colors or font sizes.

Using the Module for Testimonials

For greater flexibility in placement and to incorporate testimonials into various parts of your site, using a module can be the perfect solution.

  1. Creating a Testimonial Module:

    • Go to Extensions > Modules and click "New".
    • Choose the Responsive Testimonials Pro - Showcase module or a similarly named module part of the extension.
    • Assign the module a position within your template where you want the testimonials to appear.
  2. Module Configuration:

    • General Settings: Similar to the component, configure which categories to pull testimonials from and set basic display preferences.
    • Layout Options: Select the desired layout for testimonials. Options may include sliders, grids, or simple lists, each with customizable settings like transition effects for sliders.
    • Visibility Options: Determine which fields to display, such as author images, ratings, or testimonial dates. Additionally, configure the module title and description if needed.
  3. Styling the Module:

    • Utilize the module’s built-in styling options to adjust the appearance, including alignments, colors, and margins.
    • For advanced customizations, refer to the module’s class suffix option to add custom styling via CSS.

Finalizing Your Setup

After configuring either the component or module for displaying testimonials, review the frontend of your site to ensure testimonials are displayed as expected. Make any necessary adjustments to optimize the appearance and layout, providing site visitors with a compelling testimonial showcase that enhances trust and engagement.
